Addiction Recovery

As a substance abuse counselor with over 10 years working in the field, I have witnessed how addiction destroyed lives, torn apart families, and impacted communities. I’ve seen many client’s relapse, overdose, and sadly, give their lives away to addiction. I have supported people through their deepest and darkest moments, encouraged positive life changes, and have witnessed people rise up to transform their lives as recovering addicts.

Many addicts feel trapped in the dark prison of addiction. They are often left feeling alone and hopeless about any chance to escape, while also feeling terrified about taking a leap of faith into the unknown world of addiction recovery. Thus, addicts often become stuck in a state of limbo between the familiar world of addiction and the scary unfamiliar world of recovery. They desire a better life, but feel anxious and unsure if they have what it takes to get it.

There are addicts who mustered the courage to seek treatment only to relapse shortly after discharging. There are many clients who feel absolutely defeated and hopeless about the possibility of recovery when they have consistently sought treatment, but always seem to end up relapsing and losing everything once they leave a program.

Recovering from the disease of addiction and breaking through into a life of recovery can be extremely difficult of many without much needed guidance and support.

Despite all of the pain and suffering caused by addiction, I have also witnessed many clients who have made one heck of a comeback to completely transforming their lives as recovering addicts.

It is awesome to see clients overcome some major life hurdles, build their confidence and competence to handle cravings and urges to use, break addiction or trauma cycles, rebuild trust and intimacy in their relationships, and become positive leaders with a purpose in their own recovery journey.

We care about your recovery and understand how scary it feels not knowing what comes next in your recovery journey. Like you, we too have a desire to help others who are struggling with addiction heal, connect, and life a fulling life in recovery.

How Do I Know If a Loved One or I Have an Addiction?

While not absolute, here is a quick guide that can help you assess whether or not you or a loved one may have an addiction, as well as its’ severity:

  • Have you wanted to cut down or quit but not have been able to do it?

  • How much time (hours/day or week) do you spend engaging in the behavior?

  • How does the behavior interfere in your relationships, work, or personal life?

  • Have you ever experienced strong urges or cravings to engage in the behavior?

  • Have you ever experienced an obsessive need to plan or participate in the behavior?

  • Are you frequently preoccupied with the behavior while doing other things?

I you offer a unique mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR therapy (used to desensitize triggers and urges to use), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based recovery skills, ongoing coaching, and experiential modalities to deepen your self-awareness and insight into your addiction dynamics, build your resiliency and coping skills to handle triggers and cravings to use, explore your personal motivations and barriers to change, and help you build a strong foundation for recovery.

And remember….

You are not alone through your recovery journey.
